PUTTING IT ALL TOGETHER

If we were to put together a pageant that would feature all of the work of Stephen Sondheim, we would be here until tomorrow. But we wanted to be sure to feature a few more songs that showcase Sondheim for the composer he was. It is notable that as a musician he wrote with the performers in mind. He would often write songs specifically for the actors originating a role. He wrote songs that reflected the wide range of Bernadette Peters, and the strong low register of Patti Lupone. He was able to capture the essence of George Serat and translate through the voice of Mandy Patinkin. We are excited to feature songs from Sunday in The Park with George (his Pulitzer prize winning musical), Assassins, and A Little Night Music. Bit by bit we are putting it together.
