INTO THE WOODS
Our next show may have characters we all grew up knowing and loving, but they are in a world far different than any that we read about in books. Sondheim's award winning Into the Woods, with book by James Lapine, took the classic fairytale stories we grew up with and wove them together into a dark and fanciful world where we learn that a wish is a powerful thought, and may not be what we actually need. Into the Woods premiered in 1987 and has seen several revivals and is currently running on Broadway. It was also adapted into a film featuring Meryl Streep as the Witch. Sondheim stated on his approach to writing this show "When I'm writing a song, I try to be the character".
